Sponsors

At the Cathedral, Baptisms are celebrated on more than forty Sundays per year. Parents must be registered and, first-time Parents, or Parents new to the Parish are required to attend a Baptismal Seminar (preferably before the baby is born). Parents should come to the Rectory Office to complete the forms for baptism and to register for the Seminar and to receive the "Baptismal Guidelines Booklet." Parents must also choose one or two godparents (sponsors).

Monthly Baptismal Seminar

Held - Mondays at 7:45 p.m. (as advertised in the bulletin)

Place - Mary Room (located in lower level of Rectory)

Sponsors

at least one godparent is required at Baptism.
(normally two of different genders are chosen)

The godparent(s) must be

	at least fourteen (14) years of age
	must have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.

Each godparent is required to submit a certificate of eligibility from his/her own parish.

The certificate must state that the sponsor is:

	a Catholic in good standing, who attends Mass regularly,
	if married, is in a valid marriage recognized by the Catholic Church. (An individual married civilly by a judge, mayor, or divorced and remarried without an annulment is not eligible to act as a godparent.)

In the absence of a second godparent, a non-Catholic Christian (never a former Catholic) may serve as a Christian witness. A copy of his/her baptismal record must be submitted beforehand.
