Cathedral Family,

While most of the world powers down for the summer, for much needed rest; there is a whole new energy of activity here at our Cathedral. During the summer months we take the opportunity to do what we can’t get done while the campus is filled with activity from the school, events and regular parish life. Gratefully our Capital Campaign “Rebuild my Church,” has provided the needed resources to advance in earnest many of our pending projects.

I have very exciting news—an entirely new sound system will be installed this coming week. Our current system was installed in 1998. Since then technology has greatly advanced in the quality of sound modulation. Our new system will include ADA compliant amplifications for individuals who are hearing impaired. It will also include speakers to broadcast outside on the plaza, when needed for events throughout the year. We also have signed on to have a companion system installed in the Cathedral Community Room. This audio upgrade will significantly enhance the quality of sound for all school activities, parish events and large gatherings downstairs. The Community room upgrades will begin the third week of August; right before school begins. Both of these projects combined will cost our parish $200,000 and has been entirely funded by proceeds that have already come in for the “Rebuild My Church.” Campaign! We are deeply grateful to you for your sacrifice and generosity in making this possible.

Please be aware that the sound system installed this week will prevent us from welcoming any funerals. We will have to refer them to our neighboring parishes. There will be no livestream for 8:00 a.m. Masses this week due to the install. We will still have daily mass. Although, some days people may have to sit in the first few pews in order to hear the priest celebrating. Next weekend you will experience the new improved sound for our celebrations!

There are other improvements slated to happen in the Community room this summer, such as replacing the original windows that are leaking, new lighting with energy efficiency, refurbishing the stage and repainting. All of the bathrooms downstairs will be newly renovated by September. Again all because of your great support of our Campaign.

Also, we have been able to make necessary improvements to our two parish convents. In one of our convents the front porch was in need of complete repair, removed and rebuilt. We were able to upgrade with new bathrooms for both convents.
