Did you know? During the Fifth Crusade, St. Francis of Assisi crossed enemy lines to meet Sultan al-Kamil of Egypt. Rather than carrying weapons, he carried the Gospel, courageously proclaiming Christ in the hope of peace and conversion.
✨ Though the Sultan did not embrace Christianity, he welcomed Francis with respect and allowed him to preach. St. Francis reminds us that true courage is rooted in faith, humility, and love for Christ—even in the most difficult circumstances.

Did you know? In 1215, St. Francis of Assisi attended the Fourth Lateran Council, one of the most important councils in the history of the Church. It was there that he met St. Dominic, founder of the Dominican Order.
✨ Though their missions were distinct, both saints shared a deep love for Christ and a desire to renew the Church through humility, prayer, and faithful preaching. Their friendship reminds us that God raises up many different vocations, united in the same mission of proclaiming the Gospel.

Did you know? Before his conversion, St. Francis of Assisi was a soldier. At age 19, he fought in a conflict against the city of Perugia and was held as a prisoner of war for nearly a year.
This difficult experience became a turning point in his life and helped prepare his heart for the profound conversion that would lead him to follow Christ more completely.
✨ Even our greatest trials can become the path God uses to transform us.

Celebrating 250 Years of America • 1776–2026
As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation, we give thanks to Almighty God for the gift of liberty and pray that our country will always be guided by truth, justice, and faith.
“Christ himself linked freedom with the knowledge of truth: ‘You will know the truth and the truth will make you free’… Freedom can therefore never be construed without relation to the truth as revealed by Jesus Christ.”
— St. John Paul II, Philadelphia, 1979
May God continue to bless the United States of America, and may we remain one nation under God, seeking the freedom that is found in Jesus Christ.
